Olivet University is dedicated to training ministry-bound men and women as biblical scholars and leaders, and to equipping them with the practical skills to preach the Gospel effectively into and after the "network generation" – thus priming them to revolutionize the world through Christian mission.[2]
Olivet existed as a small Bible college from 1992 until 2000 – the year the Evangelical Assembly of Presbyterian Churches (EAPC) officially launched Olivet Theological College & Seminary (OTCS). The Bible college was intended to train the denomination’s ministers. OTCS eventually functioned more as a "seedbed" for mission, however, offering multiple study fields and distance-learning to ministry-bound students all over the world.
OTCS developed quickly, necessitating several major changes to accommodate the school’s diverse student body. It was broken into separate institutions, each offering different degree programs. Now, in addition to OTCS, there is Jubilee College of Music, Olivet College of Journalism, Olivet College of Art & Design, Olivet College of Information Technology, Olivet College of Language Education, and Olivet College of Business.
Olivet University’s latest reorganization was supported by several key Christian ministries affiliated with the individual College divisions. These connections – some of which date back to Olivet’s founding – are clearer and stronger as a result of Olivet University’s current structure, especially in the areas of Olivet student recruitment and alumni employment.
Presently, Olivet University's main campus is located in the heart of San Francisco, where it has been since in 2005.[3]
Dr. William L. Wagner is the current university president.[4]
Olivet University operates and grants certificates and degrees with authorization from the State of California’s Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE). Currently approved programs include:[5]
